If you haven’t considered a mobile based advertising campaign for your business, perhaps these numbers will get you started. The latest BIA/Kelsey U.S. Mobile Ad Revenue Forecast (2009-2014) is predicting that mobile ad revenues will grow from $491 million in 2009 to a whopping $2.9 billion in 2014 – that’s right!
So what are businesses spending this money on? Here are some products that were included in the forecast that your business should consider using –
- Mobile search ads (text advertising applied to search queries on mobile devices)
- Display advertising applied to apps and mobile Web inventory
- SMS ads (commercial SMS messaging)
The products above allow for local or geo-targeting (the latest “big thing” in advertising), which allow advertisers to target mobile users based on their geo-position – thanks to the many location-based applications we now use via our phones.
“We expect to see more bundling of mobile advertising by digital and local media companies, in an effort to lower the barriers for adoption by small and medium-sized businesses,” said Michael Boland, program director, BIA/Kelsey.
